There are marinas all over the Eastern Shore map, but only a few can really qualify as a resort marina.  And they are scattered along the coast on Fairlee Creek, the Kent Narrows and Cambridge. All three are very popular with transient boaters.

The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Cambridge, MD is the newest of the resort marinas. Beautifully situated over 400 acres on the banks of the Choptank River, it has become quite popular with boaters who travel the Bay on vacation. Although it is a hotel, the amenities for boaters qualify it as a resort marina.

In the Kent Narrows, Mears Point Marina may not be as luxurious as the Hyatt, but it offers much more than most comparative run of the mill marinas. The grounds are nicely landscaped, the pool and separate kiddie pool are relaxing with the “Captains Cabana” serving ice cream, lite fare food and cold beverages. Mears Point is not in a metropolis, but there are seven restaurants and dock bars within walking distance and a full fitness center onsite for convenience and variety.

Tucked into a secluded cove on Fairlee Creek is Mears Great Oak Landing Marina. It is a self contained resort marina. There is nothing within walking distance outside the gates. But it is relatively unique with a restaurant and beach bar on site, a large pool, a six hole executive golf course, a fitness center, a private beach and a twenty-eight room lodge.

Both of the Mears marinas have established themselves as family marinas with children programs  including weekend evening movies, a Moon Bounce, a Slip & Slide and supervised craft activities.
